"We may have different religions, different languages, different coloured skin, but we all belong to one human race."

Kofi Annan

Religious Education introduces children to explore the mysteries and perplexities of existence and to share with them some of the paths that have been travelled before and are travelled now.

An important task in RE is to introduce pupils to the major religious traditions of the world – beliefs and teachings, practices and effects.

As a Church of England school, the major part of this task will focus on Christianity, in recognition of the foundation of our school and its importance in the life of the community which supports our school and which it serves.

The material of religious education stands separately as an object for study and critique. It is every pupil's entitlement to have access to the key concepts underpinning religions and beliefs, whether they are of that tradition or not. All state schools must teach religious education to pupils at every key stage. The local council, Shropshire, is responsible for deciding the RE syllabus. A new syllabus was implemented in Autumn 2022.
