The children staff and parents celebrated Harvest Festival at All Saints’ church in Culmington.

There were two congregational hymns, Lord of the Harvest and We Plough the Fields and the service was led by Father John. The children sang four wonderful songs arranged by our resident choir master Mr Ian Bennett; there was a couple of traditional style songs and two more upbeat sounding songs including possibly the children’s favourite Food Trolley, which listed an ever growing list of food items… eggs and carrots, meat and biscuits, lettuce and ice-cream… to name a few. The children managed to remember them all.

Each class added their own contribution to the service. Class 4, our oldest children showed off some colourful art work and explained about Food Banks (our ‘harvest’ is being donated to a local food bank charity). Class 3 retold The Parable of the Sower and Class 2 recited a harvest poem – word perfect. Class 1 entertained everyone with two further songs: Big Red Combined Harvester and The Big Blue Tractor (which has rather an addictive tune which I’ve found myself whistling for last few weeks!)

Congratulations to all our children who took part in the school’s cross-country event at Millichope Park last month, there were several top ten finishers from Corvedale including Emily who won the Y4 girls race.

This month for Corvedale children to compete in on the sporting front there is High 5 Netball at Ludlow, Hockey at Moor Park, Indoor Cricket at Ludlow and the Welsh Indoor Rowing Championships in Cardiff. Exciting times!
