Pupil Premium Allocation

Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools and academies to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

These are pupils who:

  • have been registered for free schools meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years
  • is a child of a member of the serving forces (or has been in the last 4 years
  • have been looked after for one day or more
  • are adopted
  • leave care under a Special Guardianship Order or a Residence Order

Schools receive this funding to support these eligible pupils and narrow the attainment gap between them and their peers.

For more information on pupil premium funding and DfE guidance visit the GOV.UK website -

Schools  receive funding based on the number of pupils who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years.

The latest allocation of funding is based on pupils eligible recorded on the January 2023 School Census.

Each school can decide how they spend the pupil premium but will be held to account to show the impact it has had.
